Health Care for the Homeless

The financial support and community awareness generated by The Chocolate Affair helps Health Care for the Homeless go out on the street to get people off the street – and back into the mainstream.

In 2008, Health Care for the Homeless saw a 15% increase in the number of people seeking our services for the first time while the capacity of the waiting area in our current facility often was “standing room only.” HCH provided comprehensive services to 12,000 different Marylanders during 74,000 patient visits at clinic sites in Baltimore City, Frederick, and in Montgomery, Harford, and Baltimore Counties. Approximately 75% of these individuals were uninsured and lacked other access to care.

In addition to direct health-related services, HCH also educates policy makers and the general public about the relationship between homelessness & health and advocates on local, state, and national levels for public policies capable of ending poverty and homelessness.

Visit the HCH website or click on the links at the top of this page to learn more.
